Julie Boyles has been teaching in higher education since 1991. She
taught in the School of Business at Southern Oregon University in
Ashland, Oregon for 11 years until 2002, when she moved to Mexico and
learned much more about the Spanish culture, a bit more of the
language, and taught English for a semester. Julie has been in Portland
since 2004 and taught since that time at Portland Community College,
Sylvania campus.
In addition to 12 years of teaching, Julie has written and edited
university textbooks for Prentice-Hall Publishers, among others for the
past four years. She spends her extra time traveling and experiencing
new cultures, volunteering as a CASA (Court-appointed Special Advocate)
and at New Avenues for Youth (an organization that serves homeless and
at-risk youth), and spending time with my grown, independent daughter.
Julie holds undergraduate degrees in Business and Computer
Information Systems, an M.B.A., and is currently enrolled in a Ph.D.
program in Public Administration and Policy with an emphasis in
Non-profits at P.S.U.
