Dr. Tom Gillpatrick, Professor of Marketing, has been on the faculty of the School of Business since 1982. He received his Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Oregon, an MBA from Utah State University, and a BS from California State University.
Dr. Gillpatrick’s research focuses on the practice of product innovation, preference measurement, and the use of market-based planning. His research in this area has been published in leading academic journals including – the Journal of Marketing Research. He is also frequently quoted in the industry trade press by such publications as the BBC, Supermarket News, Progressive Grocer, Stagnito’s New Products and local media such as the Oregonian, the Salem Statesman Journal, KATU and KGW -TV.
At PSU, Dr. Gillpatrick teaches courses on competition and CPG strategy in the food industry, international marketing, market analysis, and marketing strategy. He has served as the Executive Director for the Food Industry Leadership Center since 2000.
Dr. Gillpatrick is the first recipient of the Juan Young Professor in Marketing & Food Management. The Juan Young Professorship was established by the Juan Young Memorial Trust in 1996.
