New Commercializing Technology Executive Education Program Experiences Success
Together with the Oregon Graduate Institute (OGI) at OHSU and the American Electronics Association (AEA), the School of Business at Portland State University launched a one-week executive program focused on bringing new technologies to market in 2003.
The immersion program, titled “Driving the Business of Commercializing Technology,” was held twice in last year (June 1 – 6 and October 19 – 24) at Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington. The weeklong intensive program received positive feedback from the participants, which included directors and senior managers from such corporations as Intel, Xerox, Mentor Graphics, and InFocus.
The program’s purpose is to build leadership and management skills among the region’s technology executives. With instruction, case studies, a business simulation, and keynote speakers, participants receive a varied learning experience and will learn how to identify essential elements of success, develop a competitive strategy, analyze external and internal forces on technology firms, and use practices that support successful technology commercialization.
The next program is scheduled for April 4 – 9, 2004 at Skamania Lodge.
