Ninth Annual Food Industry Leadership Center Executive Forum Attracts Prestigious Speakers
The School of Business held the ninth annual Food Industry Leadership Executive Forum October 20 – 21, 2003 at the Embassy Suites in Tigard, Oregon. Nearly 400 hundreds students, faculty, and industry executives from all over the country attended the event.
The keynote speaker, President and CEO Jim Sinegal of Costco Wholesale Corporation, shared insights into the Costco development plan and discussed how Costco retains its talented employees. Other presenters included Jim Donald, President of Starbucks North America; John McGinty, VP, Customer Development Group of Nestle Purina Pet Care; J. Walker Smith, President of Yankelovich Partners; Warren Bryant, President of Long’s Drugs; Bob Hernanns, President of Associated Grocers Seattle; Brian Rohter, President of New Seasons Market; and Philip Lempert, the “Supermarket Guru.”
For the event, PSU’s Food Industry Leadership Center (FILC) partnered with the Network of Executive Women to develop an educational program for women in the food industry and Supermarket News, a nationally circulated weekly trade magazine for the food distribution industry.
The tenth annual Food Industry Leadership Center Executive Forum is scheduled for October 25 – 26, 2004.
